Service Description

ABOUT THE EVENT: Built in 1904, this former jail housed some of the worst inmates from Scott County. With a history that includes the unsolved murder of a sheriff, lynching of inmates, and numerous men and women housed within its cells, the walls of the Historic Scott County Jail have a storied history to tell. Over the years, there have been many reports from employees and former inmates of unexplained activity within the walls of this castle shaped jail. Paranormal enthusiasts from all over have investigated this location and have captured very compelling evidence and had unexplainable experiences such as - shadow figures, disembodied voices, being touched and slamming of cell doors - just to name a few! REQUIREMENTS: - The fee for a guided ghost hunt is $200 for up to 4 people. We can accommodate up to 6 people. Each additional person after 4 is $50 (plus tax) per person. A $100 deposit is due at the time of booking and the remainder due in CASH at the time of the event. - Must be 18 years of age. We will allow 16+ when accompanied by a parent. - Must have valid photo ID at check-in and sign waiver. - Bring your own ghost hunting equipment or you can use the equipment provided by the guide. - Only the first floor is wheelchair accessible - Tickets are non-refundable - We are a tobacco free facility. Smoking, drugs or alcohol in or around the Historic Scott County Jail is strictly prohibited. If you show signs of intoxication or inebriation you will not be admitted and will forfeit your entrance fee. This is at staff's discretion. - Staff reserves the right to escort you from the premises for disregarding the rules or unruley/disruptive behavior. WHAT IS PROVIDED: - Public Ghost Hunt lasts from 9pm to 12am - A 30 minute guided historic tour of the entire jail for the group. - Your ghost hunt will be guided by either Dr. Kristy Sumner of Soul Sisters Paranormal or Miranda Young of Ghost Biker Explorations. Both are experienced paranormal investigators with a combined 25 years of experience investigating the paranormal. - After the first 2-hours of the guided ghost hunt, you will be given the final hour to investigate the jail on your own. - This jail is climate controlled with heat and A/C. Our facility is an historic location built out of stone and even with heat, it tends to be on the cooler side. - Restrooms are available on the first floor of this building.

All bookings are final and non-refundable. Must be 18 years of age. We will allow 16+ when accompanied by a parent. You will be asked to validate your child's age if they are under 18.

Historic Scott County Jail is located in Eastern Standard Time (EST). Unless otherwise noted, all operating hours and event times listed are EST.

(Last guided tour tickets will be sold 1 hour before closing and last self-guided tour will be sold 30 minutes before closing.)

While the hours listed above are our standard operating hours, we are a small business located in rural East Tennessee with a limited staff. These standard business hours are subject to change due to inclement weather, private events or emergency situations. Any daytime operational hour changes will be announced on the Historic Scott County Jail Facebook Page. If you are traveling to the area, please check the page or call us to confirm that no announcements have been made.
