Unlock history at The Historic Scott County Jail. A variety of guided and self-guided museum tours are available and will allow you to explore all three levels of this historic building, as well as learn the history and legends of Huntsville. During its operation, this 3-story former jail building housed some of the worst inmates in Scott County history. Explore the booking room, offices, and holding cells on a self-guided tour. You will also see donated items, pictures, and newspaper articles related to the evolution of crime and punishment. Our award winning audio tour will guide you through the jail with detailed information about the different exhibits. Please note that the 2nd and 3rd levels are only accessible via stairs.

The guide will take you and your group through all 3 levels of the former jail building, detailing its legends, history, and significance to Scott County. Historic Scott County Jail Flashlight Tours (guided):
$25/Person + Tax
Tour the Historic Scott County Jail after dark and listen to stories of inmates once housed here as well as the frightening tales and ghost stories of the ones who may have never left. These tours last approximately 90 minutes and only 10 tickets will be sold for each tour. During this tour, you will see video, listen to audio and see photos captured by paranormal investigators who have investigated the jail. Please note that the 2nd and 3rd levels are only accessible via stairs.

*Accessibility: For wheelchairs and scooters, the second and third floors of the Historic Scott County Jail are not accessible. These floors are accessed by a staircase that we consider moderately strenuous. Assistance and service dogs, are the only animals that are allowed to enter the historic structure.
